>> Curriculum Vitae
Degrees:
1994 Ph.D. University of Iowa
1986 B.A. Tufts University
I came to the University of Utah after completing my doctorate in American poetry at the University of Iowa, working in Multicultural Affairs at Grinnell College, teaching at Cornell College, and then teaching middle school and high school for two years in the Washington, D.C. area. Since joining the English Department at the University of Utah, I have worked in English Education, helping to prepare university students to become secondary English/Language Arts teachers. Thus I join my passions for literature, writing, and pedagogy, and keep learning about how each contributes to our capacity to create and strengthen our lives and communities.

2. exploring peace and conflict through children's literature.
3. teaching writing, thinking, and interpretation.
4. connecting in-school reading and writing to our lives outside of school.
