Why doesn't the department offer more classes?

We are offering as many classes as our resources permit.

Why are Communication courses offered at times that conflict with other Communication courses?

Given the large number of classes we offer it is inevitable that some classes will be offered at the same time as others. As a result, students must accept that it will take three to four semesters to complete a sequence within the Department.

Why doesn't the Department offer more evening classes?

The University of Utah is a traditional University that caters to traditional University students, who are available to take classes during the day. Also, we are offering as many classes as our resources permit.

What is the last day to add classes?

Students must add a Communication course to their schedule within the first 14 calendar days of the semester or they may not receive credit for the course.

Does the Communication Department's graduate program have a minimum GPA requirement?

Although Communication Department graduate program does not have a GPA minimum, the University of Utah's Graduate School does require that all students who apply for admission meet one of the following criteria: 1. An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0, based on all undergraduate work. If the undergraduate GPA is below 3.0, a GPA will be calculated on the last 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of the undergraduate work for admission consideration. 2. A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Does the Communication Department's graduate program require an applicant to have a certain GRE score before they can apply?

No, the graduate program does not have a minimum GRE score necessary to apply. However, most of our successful candidates score over 1100 combined between the verbal and quantitative sections of the test. We do not look at the analytical section or the writing portion of the test.

What are the Communication Department graduate program's acceptance rates?

Although the number of applications (as well as the number of acceptances) changes each year, we usually receive between 120-150 applications each year, and accept between 10%-15% of those applicants.
