Research Paper

Rather than post one sample of a legal paper, I have provided links to two, online legal journals. Within those journals, you can find articles that are good examples of legal research.

The journals are:

Journal of Technology Law & Policy and

North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology

The articles in these papers have hypertext links to their footnotes, which offer good examples of the legal citation system.

The outline guide I handed out in class uses this basic structure:

I. Introduction
II. Literature/Case Review
III. Argument/Discussion
IV. Conclusions

Some of the articles in these journals appear to have a different structure because they have more than four headings. Don't be confused: they are dividing a heading like Literature/Case Review into more than one section. In essence, the authors are still using the same, basic format for their papers. Your papers will be much shorter than most of these, so the four-part structure should suffice.

Good luck!
