Degrees:
1997 PhD English University of Virginia
1993 MA English University of Virginia
1990 BA Sewanee
I have spent most of my professional and personal life in the southeast, and enjoy the move -- intellectually and personally and geographically -- entailed by my arrival at Utah. I have most recently taught at Vanderbilt University (where I earned tenure) for 10 years, and previous to that experience I was a visiting professor at Sewanee; I have also briefly taught at Choate Rosemary Hall and at Phillips Andover. I did my graduate work at the University of Virginia. I have remained focused on the English Renaissance during all my moves, and intend to do so for the foreseeable future.
