Clarence Snow Travel & Professional Development Scholarships | The funds in this endowment are intended to support graduate student travel to professional conferences to give talks and readings, or to interview for academic positions; when funds allow, participation in panel discussions or other joint presentations may also be supported. Due to limited availability of funds, proposals submitted early in the academic year are most likely to receive funding. Students may apply for support before receiving formal acceptance. In some cases, the Graduate School can provide matching funds for professional presentations in the amount authorized by the English Department. As these funds are also limited, applying as early in the academic year as possible increases the opportunity for acceptance. Graduate School forms can be obtained from the Department Administrative Assistant. The Council of Graduate Directors is considering limiting matching support for one, possibly two presentations during a students graduate career. With this in mind, you may want to be selective about the occasions for which you seek matching funds. Materials to be submitted to DGS, Graduate Committee and Department Chair: 1) Copy of work to be presented (full text) 2) Copy of flyer/descriptive materials on conference or letter/email inviting student to job interview Deadlines for applications are October 15h and January 15th for the following semester.
