Certificate Programs

The Department of Linguistics offers two certificate programs. These certificates may be taken in conjunction with other degree study or as stand-alone program. The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certificate is for students who are interested in teaching English to non-native speakers in the United States and abroad. It is available to undergraduates as a stand-alone program or as part of a BA in Linguistics with TESOL emphasis. The TESOL certificate is also available to graduate students who complete an MA in Applied Linguistics or the K12/TESOL/BE emphasis. The Certificate in Revitalization of Endangered Language and Culture (CRELC) is for students who are interested in working with endangered languages. This certificate is available to both undergraduates and graduates. Students who are interested in endangered languages may want to look into the Center for American Indian Languages (CAIL).
