Outreach Program

The Middle East Center of the University of Utah has one of the most dynamic community-oriented outreach programs in the United States. 

The Center offers lectures and cultural programs in public schools throughout the state of Utah; it organizes special workshops to train teachers so that Middle East materials can be integrated at the appropriate grade levels where teachers are charged with coverage of international materials; it supports a teachers advisory committee and publishes a newsletter "Outreach Notes", containing instructional materials for teachers. 

The Outreach Program coordinates requests for lectures or expert commentary by Center faculty and graduate students for city, county and state agencies, non-profit and business organizations, the media, and community groups.  The Outreach Resource Room, housed at the Middle East Center, contains a collection of films and documentaries on various Middle Eastern subjects.  For additional information, please contact Linda Adams or Isil Hessick.
