My Work:
My philosophical work is concerned with the attempt to use the naturalistic tools of a philosopher of mind to understand things we understand less well, including: meaning, the mind, culture, norms, social categories, conventions, and so forth.
Education and Employment:
I like to think my education is ongoing.
I went to the University of Kansas then Rutgers University in Philosophy. I also hung around the Rutgers Center for Cognitive Science.
I have been affiliated with the Philosophy Department at the University of Utah since 2000.
I spent 2001-2003 as a Research Assistant Professor at Hong Kong University. That was one of the best things I have ever done.
I spent 2005-2006 as a Visiting Fellow at the Princeton University Center for Human Values. That was really amazing too.
Jobs That I had that you won't find listed on my cv (anymore):
I have worked in a light bulb factory, new housing construction, a cardboard factory, a dishwasher, a bookstore, a video store, a daycare, a waiter, a psychiatric medical temp (in London), and database construction.
