The Honors College has selected Professor Mariam Thalos as this year's Honors Professor | Each year the Honors College grants at least one Honors Professorship to a faculty member at the University who proposes a new course for Honors students. Professor Anya Plutynski has been awarded the Environmental Humanities Professorship for 2008-2009 | With projected changes in climate and population growth, water scarcity is expected to become an ever more burdensome problem, especially in the state of Utah. Professor Plutynski's project, sponsored by the Environmental Humanities Program (http://www.hum.utah.edu/eh/?pageId=1083) will be an interdisciplinary investigation into water science and policy.

The Department of Philosophy is proud to announce that Assistant Professor, James Tabery, and Graduate Student, Monika Piotrowska, will both present papers at the 21st Biennial Philosophy of Science Association Meetings | James Tabery, Assistant Professor, and Monika Piotrowska, Third Year Graduate Student, have both had papers accepted for presentation at the 21st Biennial Philosophy of Science Association meetings in Pittsburgh, Nov 6th to 8th. Tabery and Piotrowska each achieved the further distinction of having their papers selected for the conference volume to be published as a supplementary volume of the journal, Philosophy of Science.
