Minor in Rhetoric and Writing

The information below is designed to provide information regarding the Literacy Studies Minor. For additional information, Literacy Studies Program Overview pamphlets are available in the College of Humanities, LNCO 2100 and the University Writing Program office, LNCO 3700.

Why a Literacy Studies Minor?

If you minor in Literacy Studies you will have a better understanding of how to think about writing, to adapt your writing for different situations and audiences, and to construct better texts. In short, you will have an advantage over others who do not have this background.

A minor will help you be prepared not only to be a better writer in your major, but in a range of fields: publishing, editing, professional writing, government, community advocacy, the non-profit sector, corporate communications, scientific and technical fields, education, government, pre-law and medicine, and you will be especially well prepared for graduate work in rhetoric/composition.
